At last we've cracked it, Fresh Gluten Free Bread!!
Over the last few years we've tried to understand the difficulties of following a gluten free diet and have listened to the many requests of our customers at the many shows we attend. We think we've finally achieved the taste and quality that our customers would expect from a Mrs Crimble's fresh loaf and this will be available for purchase from Thursday 25th June.
Initially the Mrs Crimble's Fresh Gluten Free Bread will be available at any local Sainsbury's store, but will be found on the 'Free From' section and not the Bread section. If customers are unable to find Mrs Crimble's Fresh Gluten Free Bread in their local Sainsbury's then they should ask in store at the information counter.

As awareness and demand for Gluten Free Foods has grown an increasing number of customers have been asking Mrs Crimble's to satisfy their needs for a great tasting loaf of bread that is good enough for all the family to enjoy. They also want to eat this every day and for the loaf to (also) be available in a main supermarket to buy with their weekly or daily shop.
There are very few good tasting gluten free breads and morning goods available which is not surprising given the significant technical and recipe challenges involved in the production of good gluten free bread. The main hurdle to overcome is to replace the benefits of gluten, which gives the characteristic structure of a traditional loaf of bread.
According to Jeremy Woods, MD of Mrs Crimble's, "creating gluten free recipes that taste great is a tricky task. It is hard to find one ingredient that can replace glutens function in baking and still get bread that tastes good and has a good texture without being sponge or crumpet like. A careful mix of ingredients such as gluten free flours - rice flour, maize flour and starches fibres and gums is working well and we're absolutely delighted with the results."
Our biggest challenge as a small company is to get a full range of our products into the same store; we know how frustrating it can be to find different products in different shops. This is where we still need our customers' help. The delicious Mrs Crimble's range can usually be found in all good small stores such as delicatessens, farm shops and health food outlets and increasingly on the 'Free From' sections of the supermarkets. Wherever someone finds one Mrs Crimble's product the chances are the store can order the line they want, but they will have to ask them as it's the store's decision as to what is stocked and not ours.
